22 of the UK’s most exciting artists descend on South Street, Reading, for another fabulous Fresh festival. The exquisite line up includes a new performance from the inimitable Marcia Farquhar, superb visual theatre from Al Seed & Ben Faulks, Claire’s show-stealing performance from this year’s National Review of Live Art, another enigmatic intervention by Fresh-favourite Eitan Buchalter, a terrific video work by Pablo Perezzarate and a truly uplifting end-of-day performance by Tim Jeeves.

Augusto Corrieri deconstructs a short theatrical solo to create his wonderful piece Quartet while Orion Maxted builds a complex system from a simple action in Process Transformation 9. Performance artist Tim Bromage explores sin and penance through extreme action, Holly Slingsby performs a moving catharsis using objects, laughter and ethereal light and Victoria Melody demonstrates techniques for destroying stress balls!

If all of this leaves you feeling a little bemused, don’t panic – Fresh is hosting a lively discussion between international performance artist and professor of Fine Art at Oxford University, Brian Catling, and the festival director’s supportive but sceptical dad, John Kingdom, about the merits (or not!) of ‘Live Art’.  Pick a side and get stuck in!

Performances take place throughout the day from noon and the event winds up with a cabaret. Fresh builds on the success of its 2006 festival at South Street by incorporating the RISC centre this year. RISC, which is just around the corner, will be hosting part of the programme and their deliciously ethical fair-trade café and restaurant will provide the perfect place to get refreshed and chat about what you’ve just seen!
