Fresh Loves its volunteers!

From stewarding to interning, there is a whole host of ways to get involved with Fresh. If you're interested then we're interested and we'd love to hear from you. Email richard@freshfest.org

Work experience

We have a number of opportunities available for the right candidates and can also tailor programmes of work experience to suit the individual participants who might have more specific interests (eg graphic design, web development, PR, performance technician, set building and so on):

Stewarding The more the merrier!  This will involve a variety of roles including meet-and-greet, proactively shepherding audiences towards what’s on next, and managing audiences for specific performances (some of them might be one-to-one pieces for example)

Artist Liaison This will involve corresponding with artists in the lead up to the event to ensure that they have all the information that they need and that Fresh has everything they need.  Artist liaisons will then be responsible for ‘looking after’ their artist on the day (this might involve running small errands, cups of tea, lending a hand and being friendly) and ensuring that their experience of Fresh leaves them as happy as a sand boy.

Artist Support Some of the artists will be developing their work during the week leading up to Fresh and so this role would involve being on-hand to help facilitate this.  This will be a similar role to the artist liaison but involve a more involved working relationship over the course of a week rather than just a day.  This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a strong relationship with an artist and to learn from their practical professional experience.

Assistant Event Management Suitable for a committed student keen to gain some excellent experience and CV points.  This will involve working with the festival director to plan and coordinate the smooth running of Fresh.  The role would involve an ongoing involvement with the organisation of Fresh and the operation of a clipboard and walkie-talkie on the day.  Excellent communication and organisational skills a must!

Marketing and Audience Development This person will be responsible for marketing Fresh to members of their university/art school.  This might also involve organising transport (a minibus for example) and working with the festival director to create suitable marketing materials (posters, leaflets, emails, departmental notices etc).  Creative thinking encouraged!

Exhibition Technicians As well as live works, Fresh will be exhibiting documentation of past performances by its contributing artists as well as a programme of video works.  We are therefore keen to hear from anyone who is interested in offering curatorial input and assisting with the installation of this exhibition.

Participants will gain valuable work experience that will greatly enhance their CVs.  Fresh will also be able to provide references for those taking part.  This will also be an opportunity to meet new people, make useful contacts and, with any luck, have some fun!
